Mary Ethel Howard, a vibrant soul born on May 13, 1952 in Pineville, LA, departed her earthly abode on December 2, 2025. Mary Ethel resided in Alexandria, Louisiana, where she illuminated the lives of those around her with her free spirit and infectious love for life. Cherished in the hearts of many, Mary Ethel was a woman of many passions; a lover of fashion, an avid supporter of the New Orleans Saints, and a devoted fan of Michael Jordan. She found joy in cooking, reveling in the process of creating culinary delights and sharing them with those she held dear.

Mary Ethel was not just an employee of the School Board; she was a dietary assistant who made a significant impact. Her dedication to the wellbeing of students was reflected in her work, for which she was deeply appreciated. Mary Ethel was a proud Peabody Alumni, actively participating in alumni activities and fostering a dynamic community spirit. She not only served in her community, but also proudly served her country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged.

Mary Ethel's love for vibrant colors, particularly red and yellow, was a testament to her zest for life. She was a regular at the casino, enjoying the thrill and camaraderie it offered. Mary Ethel didn't merely exist; she lived, loved, and laughed, lighting up the world around her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wardell Howard, and mother, Dorena Howard. Mary Ethel's life will be celebrated on Saturday, December 13, 2025. A public viewing will take place at 10:00am at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 410 Solomon Street, Alexandria, Louisiana, followed by the funeral service at 11:00am. Interment will be at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, 211 Mason Street, Pineville, Louisiana immediately following the service.
