Mary Belle Hurd, age 96, gained her wings on Sunday September 22, 2024.
Born in Harlan County, Kentucky, on August 2, 1928, she was a resident of Lexington, Kentucky for 65 years.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Jonathan Green and Mary Neff Green; brother, Louis Green; son and daughter in law, Raymond Lynn Day and Linda Day; son in law, Albert L. Bowen; and by the father of her children, Raymond Day Sr.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Monica Day Bowen; two grandsons; three great grandsons; four great granddaughters; one great great grandson; three great great granddaughters.
Mary spent 35 years working six days a week as a treasured and trusted employee of Velminot Jewelers in Downtown Lexington, Kentucky. As a loving and kindhearted person, Mary was loved by all who knew her. She loved her family dearly and especially loved holding her great great grandbabies.
Visitation will be held from 12-1pm on Thursday September 26, 2024, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Corbin, KY, with Rev. Greg McClain.
The family would like to thank her many aids and nurses at Somerset Rehabilitation. Special thank you to the ones who visited her while she was in hospice care. Also a thank you to her doctors and nurses at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Hospice Care. We appreciate you all and Mary will be forever in our hearts.
