Mary Darlene Hussey

(Mary) Darlene Hussey, age 70, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025, resting comfortably in her favorite chair at home. Born on March 23, 1955, in Schenectady, NY, she was the beloved daughter of the late William and Beatrice (Dudas) McDougall. A graduate of Notre Dame Catholic High School, Darlene went on to earn her associate degree in Secretarial Science from Hudson Valley Community College. She began her career with the Golub Corporation and later with the U.S. Small Business Administration before dedicating many years to the Shenendehowa Central School District, where she retired after 24 years of service. Darlene faced her illness with remarkable strength and grace, remaining steadfast in her love and care for her family. She found joy in her time spent in Newport, RI, cherished cheering on her beloved New York Mets, and took pride tending to her yard. To honor her memory and spirit for life, always remember-order dessert.
She was the beloved wife of Thomas Hussey; loving mother of Christopher (Dennine Burdick) Hussey and Caroline (Steven Moore) Hussey; caring sister of Diane Goldsmith; and first cousin of Susan (Peter) Palermo and Ed (Stormy) Falso. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin brothers in infancy.
All are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life Service on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY 12019.. A luncheon reception will follow in the funeral home where family will receive friends and share memories from 2:30PM-4:30PM.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at NYOH who helped Darlene immensely through her journey. Also, many thanks to Janet Salisbury who was a partner in the journey always leaning on each other.
