Mary “Inez” Smith, 96, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 15, 1929, in Arlington, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Paul E. Phillips and Mary Frances Harrell.
Inez was a gracious and devoted woman whose greatest joy came from caring for her family. Her warmth, strength, and compassion touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be remembered for her unwavering love of family.
She is survived by her children: Lura Benton, Leo Smith, Jr. (Sarah), Sabrina Smith, and Yana Reiter (Todd); her grandchildren, Rob Hayes, Kate Smith, Kari Smith, and Laura Knobl; five great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Inez was predeceased in 1993 by her beloved husband of 47 years, Leo W. Smith; twin daughters in 1953; and brothers, James E. Phillips and Paul E. Phillips, Jr.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
