Mary Jo Stewart, 82, passed away peacefully October 14, 2025. She was born in Taylor County, WV to the late Andy and Nita (Jones) Devart, worked for First National Bank in Mogadore and was a retired councilwoman for the Village of Mogadore.
Mary Jo was also a long-time member of Wedgewood United Methodist Church, a former Queen Mother in the Red Hat Society and had been active with ABWA. She was a champion bowler in her younger years and a huge fan of NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
More than anything though, Mary Jo was devoted to her family: she was especially proud of being a Mamaw. She loved to entertain - the kitchen provided a lifetime of laughs and memories. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit, and was extremely generous to others. She will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Karl and siblings, Lindy, Wilma, Mildred, Charles, Rob and Sherry. She is survived by her children, Karl Edward and Rhonda (Karen); grandchildren, Jordan and Jaedyn; long-time companion, Steve; sisters, Barbara, Polly (Larry) and Pat; brother, Reverend Gary (Debbie); sister-in-law, Rue (Paul) Blum; and many, many other loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44305 with Reverend Gary Devart officiating. Calling hours will be at the funeral home for two hours prior to the service, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. with private burial at Mogadore Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Mogadore Firefighters Association, 135 S. Cleveland Ave., Mogadore, OH 44260.
