Charlene Jones graduated from high school in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee in 1948 and from Nashville Business College in 1951. She worked several years for the FBI and the Department of Navy in Washington D.C., also for the IRS and General Retail, a branch of GENESCO, both in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1963, she began working for the Federal Housing Authority, later known as the HUD, and remained there until her retirement in 1983. Following retirement from government employment, she worked another eleven years in the office of the Leah Rose Residence in Nashville, where she also resided.

She was a long-time member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ in Nashville.

Her parents, Frank P. and Catherine “Kate” Jones of Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee preceded her in death. Her brothers, Henry Jones, Frank S. Jones, Zane Jones and sister, Elizabeth Holland, also preceded her in death.

Charlene was dedicated to her family, and they will miss her lively personality and humor. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Judy Jones, of Hendersonville, nieces, Beth (Jack) Vanderpool of Dallas, GA, Leah (Newton) Derryberry of Cedar Hill, TN, Peggy Hurst of Harrisburg, PA, Alisha (Bo) Gilmore of Hendersonville, TN, Carrie (David) Proctor of Eagleville, TN, a nephew, Mike Jones of Harrisburg, PA, and many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews.

A graveside service will be held on June 4, 2025, at Hendersonville Memory Gardens and Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be for two hours prior to the service.
