Mary Lou Kirkpatrick, 81, of Ephrata, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025, in the presence of her loving family while in hospice care. Born in Jacksonburg, WV, Lou was the ninth of thirteen children of the late John H. & Martha A. (Hosteller) Kirkpatrick.
Lou grew up in West Virginia, a graduate of Valley High School, class of 1961 in Pine Grove. She was employed with Pfizer for many years and as a machine operator she worked with popular products such as Listerine and other household health items. Lou had a strong work ethic. She enjoyed vegetable gardening and canning the things she grew. Quilting, jigsaw puzzles, and word searches were some of her favorite hobbies. She attended Ephrata Bible Fellowship Church. Lou was one-of-a-kind, the matriarch of the family; assertive and independent. She was warm, giving, loved children, and established special relationships with her many nieces and nephews.
Lou is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Jo Kirkpatrick of Ephrata; eight siblings, Freida Dulaney, Lois Kirkpatrick, Frank Kirkpatrick, Willard Kirkpatrick, Jerry Kirkpatrick, Loretta Redman, and Linda Behney; and many loving nieces and nephews. Lou was predeceased by five siblings, Ralph Kirkpatrick, Bill Kirkpatrick, Paul Kirkpatrick, Shirley 'Midge' White, and Esther 'Pug' Schmidt.
A graveside service will be held on Thurs., Jan. 30th at 11 a.m. in Bergstrasse Church Cemetery, 9 Hahnstown Rd, Ephata.
