The Almighty has called home Mary Lou Lacey who passed away quietly, on Sunday October 5th, 2025 at the Care Center at Sunset Lake in Liberty, NY. She was born on December 29th, 1939 to the late Maggie Pearl Lusk and Dale Farquhar in Robstown, Texas.
Born and raised in Sweetwater, Texas, Mary Lou was a licensed practical nurse in three states: Texas, Pennsylvania, and New York, and retired from the Monticello Central Schools as the head cook. She was also a Sunday School teacher, an avid Little League volunteer, and the lead cook at Camp Lakota in Wurtsboro.
Mary Lou was a devoted wife of 62 years that loved her sons and grandchildren. A die-hard "Yankee Fan", she also had a love for her flower gardens. The holidays were always a special time with decorating the home that she accomplished with great pride and joy.
Survivors include her husband: John S. Lacey, at home; one son John D. Lacey of Wurtsboro; four grandchildren: John D. Lacey and his wife Jamie of Wurtsboro, Kaitlin Lacey (Romar) of Hurleyville, Nicole Lacey of Niles, OH, and Autumn Lacey of Brick, NJ; three great grandchildren: Elian & Aziel Caraballa of Hurleyville, and Olivia Lacey of Wurtsboro. She was preceded in death by her son: Robert E. Lacey; her sister: Sharon Stearns Farquhar; and two brothers: Clearance Farquhar and Henry Dale Farquhar.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13 from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with a memorial service starting at 4pm at the funeral home.
