Mary Lahue, 69, of Collinsville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at her home in Collinsville, IL.
Mary was born on January 8, 1956, in Fukuoka, Japan, to Francis and Roseann (nee Kilna) Lahue. Her father Francis Lahue was in the United States Air Force for 22 years and was stationed at Itazuke Air Base, Japan at the time Mary was born. Of all the other assignments her parents had in the Air Force, Misawa Air Base, Japan from 1961-1965 was Mary's favorite. She remembered with deep fondness and spoke of those years often throughout her life. She graduated from Collinsville High School in 1974.
A devoted genealogist, Mary found great joy in researching her family’s roots, often uncovering the most obscure branches of her family tree. Her passion for connection extended beyond ancestry—she was an integral part of her high school reunion committee, dedicating herself to keeping classmates in touch across generations. Thanks to her efforts, many enjoyed lasting friendships and cherished get-togethers, often gathering for good food and laughter at Colton’s Steak House.
Mary’s greatest joy, however, was her family. She was a proud and loving mother and grandmother, never missing a chance to spoil her grandchildren or celebrate their milestones. Her warmth, dedication, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Roseann Lahue; great-grandchild, Baby Peanut; and niece, Rachel Lahue.
Mary is survived by her father, Francis Lahue; children, Kathryn Ligibel, Tom (Sara) Ligibel; grandchildren, McKenzie (Casey) Foreman, Jonah Ligibel; siblings, Joseph (Tomasita) Lahue, Tom (Linda) Lahue, Ed (Cindy) Lahue; nieces and nephews, Christina (Corey) Shannon, Alex (Erin) Lahue, Katie Lahue, Brittany (Daniel) Olsen, Ashley (Lucas) Wilhite, and many loving friends.
Memorials may be made to the Collinsville Food Pantry.
