Canandaigua – Maureen S. Lahue, age 91, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, July 12, 2025. She is survived by two children, Mary Murphy (James Crowley) and Paul (Karen) Lahue; daughter-in-law, Jeannine Lahue; nine grandchildren, Bridget Murphy (Zach Marshall), Daniel Murphy, Colin Murphy (fiancé, Kait Batting), Justin Lahue, Matthew Lahue, Nicholas Lahue, Caitlyn Bailey, Allison Bailey and Jordan Lahue; great-granddaughter, Nellie Marshall; sister, Gail Schirmer; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George Lahue in 2011; son, James Lahue in 2020; son-in-law, Steven Murphy in 1997 and two brothers-in-law, Phillip Lahue in 2018 and Thomas Schirmer in 2025.

Maureen was born in Mt. Morris and was the daughter of Theodore and Bernice (McGuire) Smith. She was a graduate of Mt. Morris Central School. Maureen earned a bachelor's degree from SUNY Geneseo. She worked as a librarian for the Canandaigua City School District for several years, before working at Finger Lakes Community College as a librarian for many years. After her retirement in 2000, Maureen went back to work as an administrative assistant for attorney's Hall and Karz in Canandaigua. She was there for several years.

Maureen was a member of the Travelers Club, The Guild, Granger Homestead Society and St. Mary's Church and their bell choir. She volunteered at Sonnenberg Gardens. Maureen enjoyed crafts, including stenciling, quilting, scherenschnitte (art of paper cutting), chair caning and velvet painting.

Maureen will be remembered as the wise and witty matriarch of the family. She was the quiet glue that held generations together. Maureen's kindness was constant, her love was unconditional and her presence was a blessing to all who knew her.

Friends may call Wednesday, July 16, from 5-7pm, at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Her memorial mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 17, at 11am, at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Benedict Parish for St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua, NY 14424 or Wood Library, 134 N. Main St., Canandaigua, NY 14424.
