Mary Jeanne Lang

Mary Lang, age 67, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, at The University of Chicago Medicine Hospital.
Mary was born December 13, 1958 in Peoria, a daughter to Frank and Jeanne (Waninger) Lang. She attended and graduated from Bergan High School with the Class of 1976. Mary lived a life filled with curiosity, warmth, and a deep love for experiencing the world. She especially cherished traveling with her sister, creating treasured memories on numerous cruises and during unforgettable trips to Italy, London, and Greece. These journeys reflected Mary's adventurous spirit and her joy in sharing meaningful moments with those she loved.
A devoted lover of the theatre, Mary found great happiness in the arts and the stories that brought people together. At home, her heart belonged to her animals, and she shared a particularly special bond with her beloved four-legged companion, Arlo, who was a constant source of comfort and companionship. Mary will be remembered for her love of travel, her appreciation for culture, and the quiet devotion she showed to those closest to her. Her memory will live on in the stories she shared, the places she explored, and the love she gave so freely.
Survivors include her mother Jeanne Lang of Peoria Heights; one sister Amy Lang of Chicago; one niece Amanda Carmichael of Denver, CO; and her four-legged companion Arlo.
Mary was preceded in death by her father and two brothers: Eric and Dave Lang.
Visitation will be held at Wright & Salmon Mortuary on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 11:00 AM with an additional visitation 30 minutes prior to mass. Father Leopold Mushobozi will officiate, and burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in West Peoria.
Preferred memorials in Mary's memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
