Mary Russell Lasich, born on September 11, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, in Brownsburg, Indiana, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the beloved spouse of the late Anthony Lasich, MD.
Mary's career was marked by her role as the office manager of Ortho Indy, where she played a pivotal role in transforming the medical practice from three physicians into one of the largest orthopedic groups in the Midwest. This achievement reflects not only her professional acumen but also her dedication to enhancing patient care and streamlining operations within the medical field.
An avid learner, Mary earned a Bachelor's degree in General Studies from IUPUI, driven by her profound love of knowledge. Her commitment to personal growth and education was a testament to her belief in lifelong learning.
Beyond her professional life, Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother. She cherished her time spent vacationing with family and creating lasting memories. Her family includes her daughter, Deborah; son, Matthew; stepchildren, Beth, Jack, Robert, and Susan; and her grandchildren, Emma, Olivia, Jackson, Austin, Andrew, Jensen, and Cameron, all of whom will carry her memory forward.
Mary was also a passionate Master Gardener. She found great joy in landscaping and maintaining her extensive property until just months before her passing, showcasing her commitment not only to her home but to the beauty of nature.
In addition to her interests in gardening, Mary sang in the Capital City Chorus for over 25 years. During this time, she participated in regional, national, and international competitions and served on the management team, illustrating her passion for music and community involvement. In a remarkable feat, she climbed Mount Machupicchu at the age of 70, a testament to her lifelong commitment to physical fitness, adventurous spirit and zest for life.
Mary Russell Lasich's life was a tapestry woven from professional accomplishments, family devotion, and personal passions. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial service to honor Mary will be held on February 22, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan in Zionsville, Indiana. Attendees are welcome to share memories of Mary, so we can all who experienced her through her different relationships. Light refreshments to follow the service. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the ASPCA to honor Mary's love for animals.
