Mary Lois Lyons, a beloved mother and "Mema", passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital at the age of 85. She was born in Chipley, Florida on November 15, 1938 to Mr. James and Katie (Orvin) Craven. The family would move to the Jacksonville area and Mary would graduate from Robert E. Lee High School. Ms. Lyons worked for many years as the office manager for Dr. Ahmad Kasraeian.
Ms. Lyons was a dedicated mother, working several jobs and doing whatever it took to take care of her family. In her down time, Mary loved shopping. After retirement, she enjoyed donating her time to different causes, volunteering with hospice, as well as with the First Coast Women's Center. She was a collector of anything butterfly, especially broaches and pins. In her later years, she enjoyed reading, crosswords, and word searches.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Wendell "Buddy" Craven and James " T-Bone" Crave; her husband of thirty-eight years in 2013, Mr. Wilbur "Doff" Lyons, as well as her daughter in 2000, Ms. Belinda Glover.
She is survived by her sons: Glenn Blanton and John (Karen) Ashby both of Orange Park; grandchildren: Brandi (Wesley) Chambers and Tasha Baxter Glover; great-grandchildren: Abigail, Madison, Loghan, and Landan; great-great grandchild: Aviyen; brother: Bennie Howard (Debbie) Craven of Glen St. Mary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Emmanuel Baptist Church from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Emmanuel Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mike Ramondetta and Rev. Clayton McCormick officiating. She will be laid to rest following services at Jacksonville Memory Gardens.
