Mary Macauda

Mary Ann (Taverna) Macauda, 81, of Falmouth, MA, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born to Joanne and John Taverna, Mary Ann grew up with a strong sense of family, kindness, and community-values she carried throughout her life.

Mary Ann was married to the love of her life, Joseph Macauda, for 55 years. Joe passed in 2020, and not a day went by that she didn't miss him deeply. Together they built a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter, love, and cherished traditions.

She leaves behind her devoted daughters, Charlene Tutein and her husband Bob, and Christine McNeil and her husband Barry. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Kelsey Hanna and her husband Jeff, Rachel Tutein, Brian McNeil, and Owen McNeil, and a delighted great-grandmother to Giana Hanna. Mary Ann is also survived by her brother Jack Taverna, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends.

Mary Ann was an active and joyful presence in the Falmouth community. She volunteered generously at the Falmouth Service Center, Falmouth Senior Center and Falmouth Hospital Emergency Room, always offering a warm smile and a helping hand. She also enjoyed many years working at TJX, where she made lasting friendships. Her neighbors adored her; she was the kind of friend who always showed up-and they lovingly supported her in return.

Her family would like to express their gratitude for the kindness and care shown to Mary Ann in her final days.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 27, from 9:00–10:30 a.m. at Chapman Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Highway. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 481 Quaker Road in North Falmouth. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary Ann's memory to the McCarthy Hospice Care Center, Sandwich, MA and The Falmouth Service Center.
