Mary Margaret “Maggie” O’Connor, 80, a lifetime resident of the southside of Indianapolis, Indiana, went to be with our Lord on February 4, 2025. Mary Margaret was a long-time member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church for over 50 years. Mary Margaret was born on September 26, 1944, to Virgil E. and Mary Alice (Watts) Bryant. Both preceded her in death. Mary Margaret is also preceded in death by her brother, William “Billy” John Bryant (d. 1967), and her son, Stephen Patrick Lovellette (d.1978).
Mary Margaret was a 1962 graduate of Scecina Memorial High School. After graduation, she attended one of the leading cosmetology training centers in the Midwest called The Approved University of Beauty Culture located in Indianapolis, Indiana where she graduated in 1963. She began her 35-plus-year career working at the Southern Plaza Blocks Department Store Beauty Shop. There she made life-long friends with other beauticians and clients. Mary Margaret went on to open her own beauty salon out of her home and operated it for many years to service clients, family, neighbors, and friends. She ended her career and retired from the JC Penney Hair Salon in Greenwood, Indiana. Mary Margaret loved traveling, socializing with her husband, spending time with friends, and many memories with her children and grandchildren.
Mary Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her spouse James “Jim” O’Connor whom she was married to for 33 years. May is also survived by her children Scarlett (Chavis) Taylor, Veronica (Mike) Kindley, Christine O’Connor, Jimmy O’Connor, and Colleen (Chris) Taylor. Her grandchildren: Sydney (Shane) Noland, Adam (Devin) Patton, Elessia Taylor, Julianna Taylor, Garrett Taylor, Jake O’Connor, Austin O’Connor, Allee (Layne Cox) Taylor, Alexandra Kindley, and Mark Kindley. Her great-grandchildren Samuel Noland, Adeline, and Ella O’Connor.
Visitation for Mary Margaret will be Monday, February 10 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at O’Riley – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46227. Additional visitation will be Tuesday, February 11 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM, at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 8300 Rahke Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46217. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
