The family of Mary Martinez are saddened to announce her passing on Tuesday, September 30th, 2025. Mary was born in Questa, NM on March 12th, 1934. Her family in heaven were waiting for her.
Mary was married twice in her life. Her first marriage was to Thomas J. O’Rourke a serviceman. They had 3 children 2 boys and 1 girl. Sadly, both sons passed away. The military life showed her many places, and she made lifelong friends along the way. When they retired to Albuquerque, she embraced a career in retail which she really enjoyed. They separated soon after the move. Shortly after she meet and married Anthony Martinez, he cherished her. They lived their life happily, they enjoyed going to the casino. Sadly, cancer took him from her in 2004. Mary’s one wish in life was to love her family and friends and for all to get along.
Mary is preceded in death by her mom, dad, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, 2 husbands, and 2 sons. She is the last one to join the Ortega family in heaven. Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Deb and Dave Ewertz of Vermont. Her friend and caregiver Becky Ewertz of Albuquerque. She loved Becky like a daughter. Along with many friends and relatives. She will be missed by all.
Services will be held on Wednesday October 15th, 2025. At Holy Ghost Catholic Church located on 833 Arizona St SE #929, Albuquerque, NM 87108. Rosary will start at 9:30 am with Mass to follow at 10:00 AM. Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery following Mass.
