Mary Josephine McClellan of Hayden, Ala. passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025. Josephine was born in Hayden on November 13, 1936. She graduated from Hayden High School, class of 1956, and went on to work for Blount County Board of Education as custodian for Hayden Elementary School for twenty-five years. Josephine was talented in quilting and gardening and loved doing both. She was also a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church in Hayden.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Velma Jacobs; husband of 63 years, Billy H. McClellan; sister, Shirleen (Bruce) Thomas; and nephew, David Thomas. She is survived by her children, Patrick (Janet) McClellan of Hayden, AL and Becky (Lee) Hodges of Hayden, AL; granddaughter, Amanda (Wesley) Self of Dora, AL; sister, Veronica (Richard) Kimbril of Hayden, AL; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Gethsemane Baptist Church members in Hayden, AL for their many years of praying for Josephine without ceasing, Magnolia House Assisted Living in Oneonta for four and a half years of loving care and service. TLC Rehab and Nursing Home in Oneonta for five months of loving care and service.

A visitation for Mrs. McClellan will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Monday evening, November 17, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Graves Gap Church on Tuesday, November 18, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Mrs. McClellan will lie in state for an hour prior to the funeral service's commencement. Interment in Graves Gap Cemetery will immediately follow the funeral service.
