Mary Ann "Mare" Petrovcic Mehalic, 70, of McDonald, Mt. Pleasant Township, passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 11, 2025, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
Mare was born on August 10, 1954 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Anthony and Verna Himes Petrovcic.
Mare was a devoted homemaker her entire life. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. There was not a bad bone in her body. She was the most selfless, kind hearted determined woman you would ever meet. Mare lived for her family, they were her entire world. Everything she did was for the betterment of them. Being a grandmother was the role Mare was made for. Her grandchildren were all equally spoiled by her and she would not have had it any other way. Whether she was shopping for them or just cuddling with them while she read a book, she centered her life around them.
Mares generous and giving heart not only applied to her family but to everyone she had ever met. Blood did not matter to Mare she was going to take care of you as if you were her family. Mare was very active with many charities, but especially The City Mission. She loved caring for people and people truly loved being the receiving end of her love. The world is truly a better place for having Mare in it.
Surviving is her husband of 51 years and best friend, Michael H. Mehalic Jr., daughters, Courtney Mehalic, Heather Mehalic, and Pamela (Christopher) Orient, grandchildren Scout Orient and Zoë Green, siblings, Linda (Les) Mondine, Pamela (John) Smida, Toni (David) Sidick and James Petrovcic, and many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in honor of Mare's granddaughter, Scout
All arrangements are private and entrusted to Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc. and Crematory, 5000 Noblestown Road, Oakdale (724-693-2800).
