Mary Angela Meringolo, age 95, passed away peacefully March 21, 2022, in St. Augustine, Florida. She was born on July 26, 1926, in Brooklyn, New York to Damiano and Marianna (Spezzano) Pedagna. In 1954 she married Louis Meringolo, who predeceased her in 1984. The couple lived in Canarsie before relocating to Poughkeepsie, NY in 1971 where Mary had a career in food service with IBM. Upon her retirement, she moved to Florida where she spent many happy years.
To say Mary loved to dance is an understatement. She graced the dance floors of the Arcadia, Roseland, and the Palladium as a young adult. She was an avid puzzle-maker, crafter, gamer (mahjong, rummy cube) and card player. Her hands were rarely still. She enjoyed decorating and sewing. She had an amazing talent for creating detailed crafts that spanned macrame, ceramics, 3D posters, beaded prints, and more. Mary was mathematically sharp and was once an avid day trader. She enjoyed getting in on the innovative technologies of her times, such as camcorders, answering machines, and computers.
Her beloved family was everything to her. She leaves behind her children: daughter, Deborah Udovic; son and his wife, Thomas, and Mary Meringolo; five grandchildren: Steve Udovic and his wife Karisa, Michael Udovic, Louis Meringolo, Melanie Arias, and Laura Meringolo; and three great grandchildren: Jacob Udovic, Reese Arias, and Kohen Arias. Seeing her grandchildren and especially her great grandchildren never failed to bring a smile to her face and brought her so much joy in her final years. She also had a sister, Grace Mignone who predeceased her in 2021.
Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in Middle Village, NY with arrangements being made through St. Johns Family Funeral Home in St. Augustine, Florida.
