She was born June 11, 1927, in Texarkana, Arkansas, the daughter of Jesse and Willie Mae (Purdom) Hill. At the age of 11, Mary Louise accepted Christ into her heart and became a member of St. James Baptist Church in Texarkana and was baptized in the nearby creek, as was the custom.
She attended Washington High School in Texarkana and college at Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, AL, where she earned a degree in Institutional Management.
On June 2, 1949, she married the love of her life, David Louis Moody, Jr., and from that union they had three children: Stephanie Moody of Ashtabula, Rosalind Moody-Lanton of Cincinnati, and Dr. David L. She also received a Recognition of Employment and Service in honor and deep appreciation of her 40 years of faithful, devoted, and valuable service given to the ACMC Dietary Department from September 1, 1951, to January 31, 1992.
A member of the Ashtabula Zonta Club and Zonta International since 1988, she spent 35 years contributing to improving women's lives and empowering them to develop their full potential.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, David Louis Moody, Jr., on May 16, 2013, and she still cherished the years they had together.
Mary credits her parents for the woman that she became. They loved the Lord and lived by God's Grace and so did Sister Mary Louise Moody. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 71:1 "In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust."
