Martha A. Strong, age 98, passed away July 16, 2025 at the Country Club Retirement Campus.
She was born on September 30, 1926 to John and Pearl (Phillips) Elzeer. Martha lived her entire life in Ashtabula, marrying David Strong in 1950 during the Thanksgiving snowstorm.
Her life was devoted to her two passions, family and church. As a lifelong member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Martha was active in all facets of church life, including Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, women's groups and preparation of church dinners. A great cook, she also loved to host warm and inviting dinners at her home for family and friends. Martha was the matriarch of a large and loving family including two sons, two stepsons, two grandchildren, eight bonus grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.
Martha is survived by her sons, David (Dottie) Strong of Whately, MA, Mark Strong of Columbus, OH; and stepson Bradley (Adelaide) Strong of Ashtabula. She is survived as well by her grandsons, Joel and Todd and bonus grandchildren, Scott, Neel, Deborah, Terry, Chad, Jason, Aimee, and Cassandra; as well as numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Strong, Sr.; her parents, her brothers Dean Elzeer and John Elzeer; her stepson, Bruce Strong.
The funeral service will be held at 10AM on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1342 West Prospect Rd., Ashtabula with Rev. Mark Mong officiating. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery. Calling hours will take place on Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 4PM-6PM at Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula. There will be an additional calling hour on Monday one hour prior to the service at Trinity Church.
In memory of Martha, donations may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1342 West Prospect Rd., Ashtabula.
