Richard L. Vanek, 83, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Meadow Falls of Saybrook.
He was born December 28, 1941, in Ashtabula, the son of Fred and Georgia (Van Slyke) Vanek.
Richard was a farmer and enjoyed his time hunting and fishing. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to farming, he was employed at RMI Sodium for 40+ years. Richard was a man of strong faith and a lifetime member of Andrews Catholic Church in Kingsville, OH.
Richard is survived by his children, Troy (Barb) Vanek, Susan (Rick) Phelps, Judie (Chris) Brown, Linda (Terry) Hall, Rich (Michelle) Vanek, and Mary (Mark Biscan) Vanek; his surviving siblings, Bill Vanek, Mick (Susan) Vanek, Mary (Dave) Dragon, Shirley (Frank) Baniewicz, and Dave (Patricia) Vanek; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10-11AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11AM on Monday, July 14, 2025, at St. Andrews Bobola Catholic Church, 3700 St Rt 193, Kingsville. Rev. Fr. Philip Miller will preside. Burial will be in Gageville Cemetery, Sheffield Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Andrews Church.
