Mary Alice Moore DelaCruz (Jackie), age 85, passed away Monday afternoon, November 10, 2025, at the Valley Hospice House, Fayetteville NC. She was born June 25, 1940, in Pittsylvania County, Danville VA, a daughter of the late, Doyle McKinney and Ellen Easom Moore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Miaquez DelaCruz, son Ricardo Miaquez DelaCruz, 2 sisters Eleanor Louise Moore Canonizado, and Virginia Mary Moore Adams.
Mary is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Andrea Lynn DelaCruz Magill (Glenn), a son, Joey John DelaCruz, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, two brothers, Buster Doyle McKinney Moore and Glen Warden Moore, and a sister, Ruby Ann Moore Reese. She was eternally grateful for her grandson Ryan Daniels and his wife Tiffany, who cared for her in their home during her last 2 years of life.
She was a member of St Pius X Catholic Church. Those who knew Mary will remember her love and kindness to all she encountered, and her deep faith in Jesus Christ. She loved the Church and was very active in prayer for so many. Her cooking will also be remembered and missed, especially many Filipino dishes, including rice cake and pancit. She made an award-winning cheesecake that was an overwhelming favorite.
May her memory be a blessing in many lives as we carry her legacy of caring and doing all that we can to lighten the burden of others. She will forever shine brightly in our hearts and bring joy during our challenging times.
She was known as Mary, Aunt Jackie, Mom, Sister, and Friend and loved by so many. "We will miss you".
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 24, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7800 Halprin Drive, Norfolk VA.
Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby Street, Norfolk VA.
