Steven Eugene Duke, 61, a lifelong resident of Norfolk, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on November 13, 2025.
Steven is survived by his Mother, Catherine Duke, his two daughters Nicolette and Alyssa Duke, his beloved granddaughter Lexianna, and his two best friends/brothers Brian Fancher and Robert "Bobby" Leemon. Steven was preceded in death by his father, Eugene "Gene" Duke. He was a devoted Son, Father and Grandfather. He was loved by all who crossed paths with him.
Steven was a proud graduate of Granby High School, where he lettered in football and forged friendships that lasted a lifetime.
To many around Norfolk-especially in Ocean View-Steven was best known as "The Beach Blaster," the iconic DJ whose music and energy lit up countless events. His unmistakable presence behind the turntables made him a beloved figure in the local scene, remembered not just for the music he spun but for the smile he always wore. Steven never met a stranger; within minutes, he could make anyone feel like they had known him for years. And true to who he was, he ALWAYS had a story to tell-usually one that left people laughing, thinking, or shaking their heads with a grin.
Steven dedicated 20 years to the Norfolk Sheriff's Office, serving as a deputy and eventually retiring at the rank of Captain. He later continued his public service as a Court Security Officer for the Norfolk Court System, where his professionalism, steady demeanor, and kindness made a lasting impact on colleagues and the community.
Beyond his career, Steven was deeply committed to giving back. He volunteered his time generously to many local causes and organizations, including the Norfolk St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, where he worked tirelessly to support one of the city's most cherished traditions. He was a past President of the Ocean View Democratic and Social Club, an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus in Ocean View, an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), and The Law and Disorderly Club. Steven was the voice of TGOV at Oceanview Park on Friday nights. Steven also remained a strong supporter of the Norfolk Sheriff's Office, often contributing his time to their community efforts during and long after his years of service.
Steven was a lifelong, loyal fan of the Washington Redskins, cheering passionately for his team through every season.
Steven leaves behind a legacy of service, music, community, laughter, and love. His presence-warm, generous, full of stories, and unmistakably his own-will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His impact on Norfolk, especially Ocean View, will continue to be felt for generations.
May his memory be eternal, and may his spirit live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A funeral service will be held Thursday 11/20/2025 at Hollomon Brown Funeral Home on Tidewater Dr. at 3p - A Celebration of Life will follow at 5p at Azalea Inn in Norfolk VA. We welcome all who knew and loved him to come share in his memory.

Please accept my deepest condolences on Steve´s sudden passing. My heart goes out to family and friends who had the privilege to know him and experience his love of live music. Steve was an active community advocate and a major supporter through my two campaigns for the Norfolk school board. His kindness and spirit touched many lives-may his memory be eternal.

Frank G. Hill I knew Steve for a short while, but he made you feel like you knew him forever. He was a good jokester and very committed to all of his friends, which he had many. R.I.P.

To the family of Steven, please accept my heartfelt condolences. We attended Granby High School together, and I would often run into him at Davenport Barbershop. May God grant your family strength and comfort during this difficult time.
