Mary Folline Morris
Mary Morris, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away in Maryland on October 30, 2025 at the age of 88. Daughter of Allen and Mary Read, and the middle sister to Elizabeth and Allen, Mary was born in South Carolina in 1936. Mary maintained her southern roots and beautiful accent her whole life.
Mary graduated from Dreher High School and the University of South Carolina where she was a Tri Delta. After college, she lived with lifelong girlfriends in Atlanta where she met the love of her life George Morris.
George and Mary started their family in Atlanta, having three children close in age: Folline, Beth and George. The family moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1974. As empty-nesters Mary and George moved to Richmond, Virginia, then La Plata, Maryland.
After George's passing in 1993, Mary moved back to Baltimore and eventually settled in the Broadmead retirement community.
Mary was an Episcopalian and volunteered throughout her life, most notably with the Junior League, the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and Oregon Ridge Nature Center.
Mary was a tall classic beauty and had a keen sense of style. Her mischievous but sweet sense of humor endeared her to many.
Mary enjoyed lunching with friends, her weekly tennis group, playing bridge, and connecting with her book group of 40+ years. Mary's hobbies included needlepoint, nature walks, cooking, calligraphy and reading.
Mary stayed in contact with dear friends and family from Columbia, SC, spent holidays with an extended Baltimore family including friends Elaine and Roy Smith, and enjoyed spending time with each of her grandchildren: Read, Tommy, Gibson, Will and Amanda.
Mary was resilient. Severe deafness in her later years was a challenge. She thankfully was able to regain hearing through the technological advances of Cochlear electronic implants.
Mary is predeceased by sister Elizabeth; brother Allen; and husband George.
Mary is survived by daughter Folline and son-in-law Tom Cullen; daughter Beth; son George and daughter-in-law Ann; grandchildren Read, Tom Jr., George III and grandson-in-law Kegan, William, and Amanda.
A private memorial service will be held in Baltimore.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to American Cochlear Implant Alliance https://www.acialliance.org/page/donations
