Mary was born on August 24, 1949 in St. Joseph the daughter of the late Emil and Mary (Pletcher) Ott. On August 24, 1968 she married Ronald Nitz. Those who loved her most called her Nana. She loved her family above all else — gatherings around the table, making sweets, and taking care of everyone. She tended her perennial garden, enjoyed time at the camper with Ron and friends, and treasured their travels together. Christmas was her favorite time of year, a season she filled with warmth, joy, and love. All loved Nana because she loved all the pieces that made up a good life.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Ronald; three daughters: Jodi (Jeff) Damore, Amy (Keith) Nitz-Sweet, and Dr. Christine (Joe) Kepley; grandchildren: Regan and Riley Damore, Jackson Sweet, Anna and Kara Kepley; brother, Mick (Bonnie) Ott; and sister-in-law, Peggy Ott.

Mary was also preceded in death by a sister, Tamara Nitz; and a brother, Thomas Ott.

Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman.
