Mary Jo Nizzi, 76, passed away suddenly on December 26, 2024, at her home in Clemons. Her visitation will be held at Clemons United Church of Christ on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. Immediately following Mary Jo's visitation, her funeral service will begin at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Grant Gale officiating. A private family burial will be held at Lincoln Township Cemetery at a later date.
Mary Jo was born on February 7th, 1948, in Eldora, Iowa to Elmer and Mae (Borton) Kuhlman. She grew up in St. Anthony, where she attended St. Anthony school until 8th grade. Mary Jo attended West Marshall High School in State Center.
Mary Jo was united in marriage to John Nizzi on November 5, 1966, and shortly after they moved to Clemons, Iowa.
Mary Jo worked at Donnelly Marketing in Nevada, Iowa, for over 20 years until its closing. She then obtained her GED and attended Marshalltown Community College. Mary Jo worked at Walmart as a store associate in Marshalltown for over 20 years until she retired in 2018.
Mary Jo knew no strangers and would talk to anyone about any topic. She loved spending time with family and friends. Mary Jo was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to Meskwaki Casino and being outside in the sun, mowing or relaxing on the deck. In the past Mary Jo would love to spend time at Hickory Grove, but most certainly enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas and traveling to the West Coast to see family. She would always capture the scene by taking photos.
Those left to cherish her loving memory are her daughter, Theresa (Paul) Schnepf; son, Michael Nizzi; grandchildren, Colton Schnepf, Coby Schnepf and Maelen Schnepf; brother-in-law, Jerry Nizzi; sister-in-law, Diane Nizzi; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; brother, Dennis Kuhlman and sister, Sandra McBride; brother-in-law, Philip McBride; brother-in-law, Tony Nizzi, Rudney Nizzi; sister-in-law, Patty Nizzi.
