Mary Jane O'Brien was called home to rejoice at the altar of the Lord on July 22, 2025. She leaves behind her loving family, including her children Patrick (Renee), Colleen (Christopher), and Kerry (Joseph), as well as many adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack; her parents, Edward and Josephine; and her two children, Kelley and Kevin.
Born in Glenolden in 1938, Mary Jane-affectionately known as MJ or Nannie-was a true Delco gal through and through. A woman of unshakable faith, she prayed the rosary daily and never lost hope in her Philadelphia Eagles or Phillies.
MJ found joy in simple pleasures: summers at the Glenolden Swim Club, weekends at her house down the shore, and, most of all, quality time with her children and grandchildren. A mom to many and a stranger to none, she was always quick to offer a compassionate ear, sage advice, or a slightly off-color joke that left you smiling.
Mary Jane will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her family takes comfort knowing she is now being held in the sacred arms of Jesus.
Visitation will be held at her family parish, St. George's Church 22 E Cooke Ave, Glenolden, PA 19036 on Saturday, July 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. George's Church in Glenolden or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
