Mary Elizabeth O'Connor, 61, of Steamboat Springs, passed away on September 21, 2024 after a brief illness. Mary O, as she was known to all, was born on November 24, 1962 in Boston Massachusetts and adopted by her loving parents John Augustine O'Connor and Carolyn (O'Hara) O'Connor. On July 5, 1997 she married the love of her life, Tom Schlicht, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Steamboat Springs. Mary is survived by her mother Carolyn, husband Tom, sister Carole Kerin and brother John O'Connor.
Mary O and Tom travelled the world for Tom's career and she discovered a passion for travel and adventure she never knew she had. She loved skiing and scuba diving, and she and Tom were able to enjoy these activities in many exotic locations around the world. In 2013 Mary and Tom succumbed to the Curse of the Yampa and returned to Steamboat. Although Mary thrived living overseas and in Steamboat, she always loved going home to see old friends and family in Massachusetts. Cape Cod was always her happy place.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on October 26 at STARS Ranch. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring Mary's legacy.

Aunt Carolyn, Tom, John, Carole and family, I am deeply saddened to learn of Mary´s passing. My heart goes out to all of you. Mary was a vibrant spirit with a zest for life. My siblings and I have so many fond memories of our "cousin" Mary and our fun times growing up with the O`Connor family. I will treasure these memories. My deepest, heartfelt condolences,
Jean Hayes

Dear Carolyn, Tom, Carole, John and family,

We were all so sad to learn of Mary´s illness and passing. My mom, Carole, has been concerned for her good friend, Carolyn. We are here to help in any way and keeping you all in our prayers at this difficult time.

Mary had a vibrant adventurous spirit - even as kids I recall being impressed with her confidence. She seemed like one of those rare people who live life fully (while many only think about it). Her life of adventure around the globe with Tom, was just right for her. Now I feel Jack must be welcoming Mary into a better place and a new adventure.

Prayers and deepest sympathies,

Sara and the Trainor family
