Mary Stella Parr, 79, of Woodland Park, Colorado passed away peacefully on the evening of October 31, 2024, on All Saints Eve.
Stella, as she preferred to be called, was born on January 22, 1945. Her loving parents were Jesse Zamora and Bertha Zamora. While in college Stella met her husband, Kenneth Parr at a Polka dance and fell in love. They got married in 1972 and had 52 blissful years together. She graduated from the University of Texas as she strived for the best which she passed on to her daughters. She always wanted to be the greatest version of herself that she could be. She never stopped learning mentally and emotionally as she loved to help others succeed. She was a dedicated employee for the US Postal Service and rarely called in sick unless she had to take care of one of her daughters; she was always there no matter what. Her hard work was recognized, and she did receive many awards for her dedication. She loved the outdoors, and you could find us all in the mountains on the weekends, fishing, camping, hiking and just enjoying each other's company. She also was very artistic, and you could find her doing crafts or saving flowers and writing poetry. She loved the performing arts as well as the art museums. Her favorites were the 18th Century religious paintings as she was a devoted Catholic. She brought joy to everyone and always wanted everyone to be their best. Her sense of humor would brighten everyone's day as she found the lightness in even the darkest situations.
Stella is survived by her husband Kenneth Parr and four daughters: Melissa (Chaffin), Sheila (Petrunich), Cynthia and Jennifer. She was also blessed with two sons-in-laws, Brent Chaffin and Brandon Petrunich and three grandchildren who touched her heart every day, Maximilian Chaffin, Joesphine Petrunich and Isabelle Petrunich. She would give everyone unconditional love and support and was known to pray for everyone.
The service will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, 1pm at Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Parish, 220 S West St., Woodland Park, CO 80863.
Remember Me
Remember me with smiles not tears,
for all the joy through all the years.
Recall the closeness that was ours,
A love as "sweet" as fragrant flowers.
Don't dwell on thoughts that cause you pain,
We'll see each other once again.
I am at peace try to believe,
It was my time I had to leave.
But "what a view" I have from here,
I see your face, I feel you near.
I follow you throughout the day,
You're not alone along the way.
And when God calls you you will be,
Right by my side right here with me.
Till then, I'll wait by heaven's door,
We'll be united evermore.
- Mellissa Stone
She even prays as she's looking over all her loved ones. That's how selfless and kindhearted she was. She will be truly missed but will always be in our hearts as she touched us all.
