Mary Lee Parr, age 90, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Throughout her life she enjoyed talking to everyone she met, while sharing her infectious smile.
Mary, affectionately known to many as "Pat," was born in Hilltop, West Virginia. She moved with her family to Hampton, Virginia at a young age. She graduated from Hampton High School in 1953. As she raised her four children, she worked as both a school and church secretary. For many years along with her husband, Mary also owned an antique and collectibles shop as well as an estate sale business. She served as a church volunteer for several years, making Wednesday night meals for fellow attendees to savor. Mary was an avid reader, and took pleasure in researching information about antiques and collectibles. She also enjoyed eating out at area restaurants.
Mary is survived by her husband of 71 years, Russell Parr; sons David Parr (Lynn), Ron Parr (Jane), and Gordon Parr (Cheryl); daughter Janet Cherry; grandchildren Amber Padron (Chip), Zachary Parr, Katelyn Espy (Brooks), Patrick Parr (Chelsea), Allison Burdette (Danny), William Grampre (Paola), Casha Garcia (Coleman), Krystle DeLong (Greg), Leah Parr Teles Dos Santos (Ronaldo) and Kara Parr; fifteen great-grandchildren; sister Sunny Boulton and brother Fred Raines (Rose).
To celebrate Mary's life, a graveside service and time of visitation will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2551 North Armistead Avenue, Hampton, on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a favorite charity or cause, to celebrate Mary's giving spirit.
