Mary Patrick, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 29, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida, at the age of 71. Born on August 20, 1953, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Ruth and William Bynum, Mary's life was a testament to the power of selflessness and devotion.
Mary's early years were spent in Lansing, Michigan. She graduated from East Lansing High School, where she cultivated a spirit of resilience and a charming personality that would carry her through life's many chapters. Her journey led her to a fulfilling career where she began as a waitress and bartender, charming customers with her warmth and attentiveness. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as she later became the proud owner of Patrick's Hair & Nail Salon, and Obee's Sandwich Shop, where her magnetic presence became a staple in the community.
Mary's heart found its truest joy in the love of her family. She was a cherished wife to her devoted husband of 44 years, James E.A. Patrick, a loving mother to her son and daughter-in-law, David and Michelle Dubendorf, and a doting grandmother to Alexander and Zoe. Her home was often filled with laughter, love, family, and friends; she relished the moments spent with her grandchildren and her close-knit circle of friends and neighbors.
Those who knew Mary were touched by her loving, kind, and selfless nature. She had a gift for making everyone feel special, seen, and heard. Her ability to listen and offer a word of encouragement was unmatched, and her generosity knew no bounds. Mary lived by the words of Mother Teresa, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." This simple yet profound philosophy was evident in every aspect of her life, from her interactions with customers to the tender care she showed her family and friends.
Mary's interests were a reflection of her love for life and the people in it. She was an avid card player, a shopping enthusiast, and enjoyed an afternoon tea. She reveled in the joy of simple pleasures and took every opportunity to create lasting memories with those she held dear. Her spirit, characterized by boundless love and kindness, will forever be etched in the hearts of her family, friends, and the community she so dearly impacted.

Mary's life reminds us that the richness of our days is measured not in the wealth we accumulate, but in the love we share and the compassion we show to others. Her memory will be treasured always, and her example of selflessness will continue to light the way for generations to come. Mary Patrick's story is not one of goodbye, but a story of a life well-lived and a love that endures.
