Mary M. Penner

Mary M. Penner, 86, of Hubbardsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the Siegenthaler Center, New Hartford.
Mary was born on July 26, 1939, in Canastota, the daughter of the late Clifford and Edna (Campbell) Miller and received her education in Syracuse schools.
On May 30, 1970, Mary was united in marriage with Gerald S. Penner in Randallsville. Gerald predeceased her on December 28, 2021. Over the years, Mary lived in New York, Texas, Boston, and Virginia before returning to Hubbardsville, where she ultimately settled.
Mary dedicated much of her professional life to serving others. She worked as a schoolteacher in Christian schools and as a bank teller in Hamilton. Her true calling, however, was her devotion to her family and her faith.
A faithful member of Faith Baptist Tabernacle, Mary lived her life devoted to serving God. Above all else, she cherished her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother, finding her greatest joy in her family. Her life was marked by quiet strength, faithfulness, and love.
Mary is survived by her loving children, Jeffrey and Amy Penner of Richmond, VA, and Russell and Lisa Penner of Hubbardsville,; her grandchildren, Christina and Zachary Nicol, Melissa Penner, Nathan Penner, all of Richmond, VA, David Penner, Caleb Penner, Timothy Penner, all of Hubbardsville, Sarah and Ryan Ouellette, of Morrisville, Rebekah and Tommy Trojanowicz, of Peckville, PA., great-granddaughter, Zoey, two cousins, Don Miller, of TN., Terry Miller, of Baldwinsville, and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Miller.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Faith Baptist Tabernace, 10 Utica St., Sherburne, NY 13460, with calling hours beginning two hours prior to the service. A luncheon will follow at the church.
Interment next to her husband will take place at Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia, Virginia.
