Mary Jane Power passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2025. Mary Jane was born in Delaware County, Iowa to Harry and Viola (Kerton) Heidemann on January 12, 1938. She graduated from Manchester High School and was wed to LuVern C Power in 1958. Mary Jane, LuVern and children moved to Milton in 1968. She began working at the Milton Public Library in 1978. Mary Jane enjoyed working at the library. Assisting patrons, meeting new people, and being surrounded by books was very satisfying to her. She served many years as Assistant Director before retiring in 2006. Mary Jane was a very loving mother and always encouraged her children to broaden their minds. She instilled the appreciation of music in her children, and for that they will be forever grateful. She loved the natural world and was a strong advocate for any animal in need. Stray Cats and dogs always found a home in the Power house. A special "Thank You" to the Stanley and Dolores Hergert family. Having them as neighbors on Third Street – those were the happiest of times. Mary Jane is survived by her three children, Lance (Mary) Power, Kyle (Mary) Power, and Lori Power, granddaughter Liz Power, and great-grandchildren Evalynn and Vincent. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her beloved Grandma Kate. The family would like to thank Carrie Loveland for the excellent and loving care that she provided over the past several years, and with appreciation to Ashley, Morgan, Erin and the entire Agrace Staff. Private services will be held with interment in Oakland Cemetery in Manchester, Iowa. The Albrecht Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Milton is assisting the family with arrangements.
