Mary Patricia Proffitt

Mary Patricia Proffitt died on January 25, 2025, in Amarillo.

The family will host a celebration in honor of Mary Pat’s life on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM at “The Garage” of New Life Church,402 Tanglewood Rd, Dalhart, TX 79022Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia, Amarillo, Texas.

Mary Pat was born in Dalhart on March 23, 1956, to her parents, Arthur Pat and Margie Ann Henry Womble. She graduated from Dalhart High School in 1974, and on November 29, 1974, she married her friend and forever love Barry Lee Proffitt. Mary Pat graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma University with her pharmacy degree in 1994

Her world revolved around family, especially her grandchildren and dogs. If anyone ever needed something, Dadaw was sure they had it. She would spend much of her time reading at her safe place, which was her home, with her dogs, Charlie, Bree, and Lexi. She would often go out with friends for dinner and lunch as well. Unfortunately, Amazon and UPS may go out of business without her. She was very popular in the neighborhood for her “Moonshine hobbies.”

Dadaw will be greatly missed and forever loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Barry Lee, on October 27, 2016. 

Mary Pat is survived by her daughter, Crystal Lynn Proffitt Acklin, and husband, Mark of Amarillo; her sons, Barron Heath Proffitt and his wife Brooke Lynn of Bedford and Sheldon Lee Proffitt of Arlington; her sisters, Renee Gustin and Ann Duckworth; her brothers, Scott Womble and his wife Lyla and Wes Womble and his wife Denise; and her grandchildren, Brayden Patrick Proffitt, Katelyn LeAnn Bishop, and Branden Lane Proffitt and his fiancé, Charlee “Chuck” Teems.
