In loving memory of Mary Margaret Regan-Russo who went home to God on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, after a sudden cardiac event.
Mary was born in Dorchester, MA 70 years ago to the late Mary (McHugh) and Thomas D. Regan. Mary lived in Upton, MA with her wife and partner of 51 years, Paula; whom she met and graduated from Boston State College School of Nursing/ Boston City Hospital. Mary spent 40 years working in the Boston hospitals in a variety of positions; her favorite being in a psychiatric day program at Boston University Hospital.
Mary was a person of many talents and interests. She especially enjoyed planning and hosting holiday festivities for family and friends; her favorite holiday being Christmas, where she had a pink Christmas tree, 35 nutcrackers and many beloved ornaments. She worked at perfecting her art of Italian cooking, which was not bad for an Irish girl!
She enjoyed traveling, being in Maine (the way life should be), as well as soaking in the beauties of nature. She enjoyed attending the arts as well as some sporting events, especially the Woo Sox. Her eye for fashion and accessorizing was always displayed by her signature sunglasses or hats! She loved being with her family, her pets and especially the love of her life, Paula.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas D. and Mary T. Regan as well as her brother, Thomas R. Regan. Mary leaves behind her wife, Paula, her aunt, Sr. Mary T. Regan, her brother Edward and his fiancé, Barbara Caruso; her sister, Patricia and her husband, Lawrence Gibbons; sister-in-law, Julie Gorgone and husband, John. She loved to dote on her nieces and nephews, Christine, Michael, Mike, Colleen and Bill and their spouses, Tony, Lori, Jen and Taylor, as well as her great nieces and nephews, Jaspar, Jack, Lucy, Elgin, Eloise and Graham. Mary enriched so many lives, especially Paula's, with her quiet demeanor and impish wit. She will be sorely missed. God speed Mae. We love you.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the Pickering and Son Upton Funeral Home, 45 Main St. Upton, MA from 4 to 7 P.M.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 151 Mendon St. Upton; followed by a repast luncheon in the church hall.
