Mary Ellen Ross passed away on October 3, 2023 at the age of 91. She was a resident of the Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on October 2, 1932 in Dixon, IL. To John and Dolly (Overturf) Leonard.
She graduated from Dixon High School in 1949. She married Donald Ross in 1952. She was a homemaker living in Ashton, IL for many years. She also worked at the Ashton High School in the kitchen.
After retiring they moved to Phoenix, AZ. where they enjoyed many years away from the IL. Winters. After some health issues both Donald and Mary moved to Atlanta, GA. Into an assisted lining facility near their son Tom Ross where he and his family took great care of them for about 5 years. After Donald passed in 2022 she moved to the Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Mary loved spending time with family and friends. She was a huge lover of animals. She loved to cook and made almost everything from scratch. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Donald, her parents John and Dolly Leonard, her brother John Leonard of Dixon and sister Darlene Dunne of Franklin Grove.
She is survived by her daughter Paulette (Ken) Thomas of Ashton, Son Donald (Judy) Ross Jr. of Ashton, Son Paul Ross of Rockford, IL and son Tom (Laura) Ross of Decatur, GA; Grandchildren, Lisa (David) O’Connor of Franklin Grove, Brandon Ross of Ashton and Christian Ross of Decatur, GA; Great Grandchildren, Jadyn Ross of Poplar Grove, IL. Caydence Ross, Cohen Ross, Kinnley Ross all of Ashton, and Colton O’Connor of Franklin Grove; And many nieces and nephews as well.
