Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ann Ruskamp age 91 of
Dodge, NE will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church-Olean, NE. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery-Olean. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in
Dodge, NE, with a Wake Service at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. Minnick Funeral Chapel in Dodge Is assisting the family with the arrangements. The family suggests memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church-Olean, St. Wenceslaus Church and School in Dodge, and Dodge Fire and Rescue.
Mary Ann passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024 at St. Joseph's Hillside Villa in West Point, NE.
Mary Ann Ruskamp was born on October 7, 1933 near Aloys, NE to Peter and Elizabeth (Hunke) Peitzmeier. She attended St. Aloysius Catholic School and graduated in 1951 from Guardian Angels High School in West Point, NE.
On September 27, 1956, she was united in marriage to Norbert Ruskamp at St. Aloysius Catholic Church-Aloys. Norbert and Mary Ann lived on the family farm while raising their children. In February of 2001, they moved into
Dodge, NE.
Mary Ann was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish, singing in the church choir and serving as choir director for 15 years, was a member of the Altar Sodality since 1957, serving as Vice-President and Secretary/Treasurer a few times, she helped with church cleaning as was involved with the Catholic Order of Foresters. Mary Ann was a member of the Dodge American Legion Auxiliary since 1964, serving as Treasurer for two 3-year terms, helped with the Bloodmobile whenever it came to Dodge, and helped call Bingo at Parkview Home in Dodge and helped call volunteers and arrange for prizes. She was a volunteer at the Parkview Home, leading the rosary every first Thursday of the month, and assisted with all the different special activities they had planned.
Mary Ann enjoyed bowling at Hilltop Lanes in Dodge, where she was captain for one of her teams for many years and also served as the Treasurer for the Sunday Night League. She was a 4-H Leader for nine years and always enjoyed helping her grandchildren with some of their 4-H sewing projects. Most of all Mary Ann loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren along with attending her children and grandchildren's activities.
