Mary Ethel Sargent, 84, of
Harrison, Ohio, peacefully passed away on June 15, 2025. Born on September 28, 1940, in Whitley City, Kentucky, to parents Frank and Ola (nee Bryant) Perry, Ethel was a beloved mother, grandma, and great grandma.
Ethel was a woman of many passions. She had a talent for sewing, her specialty being quilts and memory blankets. Ethel had an extraordinary green thumb, cultivating beautiful flowers and vegetables that brought joy to her family and friends. Aside from her nurturing home environment, Ethel dedicated herself to caring for others, having worked at Three Rivers Nursing Home and later at Western Bowl. However, her greatest joy came when she transitioned to her ultimate role as the "babysitting grandma," cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren.
Even during her time in the hospital, Ethel continued to show her love for flowers by commenting on the many beautiful arrangements. An avid thrifter, she delighted in hunting for unique treasures, and her love of the outdoors found expression in her fondness for camping, which was a shared love with her children. She treasured trips to the Smoky Mountains, where she learned the valuable lesson of not eating while the bears are around.
Ethel was a devoted member of Faith United Baptist Church, where she found comfort and community. Her family and friends will always remember her zest for life and the love she poured into every moment spent with them.
Ethel is preceded in death by her loving husband: Willis Sargent; her parents Frank and Ola (nee Bryant) Perry; her siblings: Rosco Perry, Irene (Robert) Brooks, Clarence Perry, Estes Perry, Vicky (Ronnie) Stephens, and William "Bill" Perry; and her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Delphia (Lloyd) Coffey, Dillard (Gladys) Sargent, Bobby Sargent, and Billy Sargent.
Those left to remember Ethel's memory are her daughters: Carol (Mike) Draper and Brenda (Bill) Neyer; her cherished grandchildren: Scott (Anyssa) Draper, Alisha Draper, Billy Neyer, Jacob Neyer, Hannah (Deven) Johnson; her great grandchildren: Tucker, Magnolia, Logan, Blake, and Kyla; her sister: Della Loudermilk; her sisters-in-law: Dorthene (Gene) Jones and Charlene (Calvin) Meadows; and aunt to many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
