Mary Sequeira Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McDonough Funeral Home on Sep. 11, 2024.
Lowell, MA – Mary D. Sequeira, 62, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the cherished wife of John V. Sequeira, with whom she joyfully celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary last December.
Born on October 10, 1961, in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Evo A. Freitas and the late Beatrice E. (Rowbotham) Freitas. A lifelong resident of Lowell, Mary grew up in Bishop Markham Village and later made her home in the Back Central neighborhood, where she and John raised their family. She attended local schools and was a proud graduate of Lowell High School.
Mary's faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted member of Saint Anthony's Church, where she attended Mass regularly. Her connection to her faith and church community brought her great strength throughout her life and carried her through her illness.
Mary was a loving mother who prioritized her children. She could often be found at the soccer field, proudly watching her kids play. Family was at the center of everything she did, and she cherished the time she spent with them.
She was also a dedicated member of her community, often volunteering as an aide in the Lowell Public Schools. She was a familiar face at Santoro's Sub Shop, where she worked for many years, and later at Pro-Mail in Tewksbury.
She is survived by her children: Anthony Sequeira and his fiancée Kristin Noseworthy of Tyngsboro, Matthew Sequeira and his companion Irene Rios of Dracut, and Sara Sequeira and her companion Juan Palacio of Tewksbury. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren: Anthony Sequeira Jr., Isabella Sequeira, Katalina Sequeira, and Kalvin Sequeira.
Mary is also survived by her siblings: John Freitas and his wife Marcille of Chelmsford, Robert Freitas of Lowell, David M. Freitas of Lowell, Linda Milot of Dracut, Carol A. Price of Hudson, NH, Susan Olson and her husband John of Billerica, and Elizabeth Roman and her husband Angel "Blanco" of Lowell. She will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, and close friends, including Debbie Costa and her husband Ralph of Salem, NH.
In addition to her family, Mary leaves behind her beloved dogs, Moose and Bear.
She was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, the late Armand Milot and Dana Price.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA.
Her funeral will begin at the funeral home on Friday at 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Saint Anthony's Church, 893 Central Street, Lowell, MA. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford.
