Mary Elizabeth Seward (May 12, 1955-November 20, 2025), 70 years old, of Garland, Texas was born in Dallas, Texas and lived in the area for her whole life. She attended Hill Jr. High, Bryan Adams High School and received her graduate degree from Texas State University at Arlington. As a young woman she had a variety of jobs including bartending and managing small restaurants. She later spent 17 years as Coordinator of Coding, Compliance and Credentialing for North Texas Infectious Disease Control. She retired in 2024 and was able to enjoy life by her own preferences until Summer of 2025.

Mary was a vibrant person, who loved deeply and was a treasured friend to those who knew her. She was artistic, musical, enjoyed reading and was a cat person. She was not married at the time of her death and has no children. She is survived by two younger sisters, Summer Woodsong of Fox, Arkansas and Julie Varga of Texas. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Ralph C. Seward; mother, Ima Jean Bonds and her cat Lucy.

While her health decline was unexpected, throughout our last conversations she made it abundantly clear that she valued her friends deeply and was aware of the gracious and generous assistance she received from all those around her.

She will be deeply missed.

Her funeral is set for December 2, 2025 Tuesday at 10:00 am at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rockwall, TX. Rather than flowers, Mary preferred any donations to support pets in need through the Humane Society of North Texas or a shelter in your area.
