Mary Frances Shelby, age 84, of Denver, left her earthly home for her heavenly home on Thursday, April 11, 2024. She was born on November 9, 1939, in Cherryville, to the late Alva and Edna Champion Carpenter. Mary was a devoted & loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. She was your biggest encourager and cheerleader with the most joyous and infectious laugh that could make everything better. She loved purely and unconditionally and healed many hearts throughout her life. She was a highly skilled cook, baker, and seamstress.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husbands, Joe Billy Hallman, Glenn Howard, and Roy Shelby; brother, Joe Carpenter (Linda); daughter-in-law Anita Hallman (wife of her son, Rickey); and brother-in-law, Gary Hallman.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Terry Hallman (Terri), Rickey Hallman, Randy Hallman (Angela), Glenda Howard Cook (Chuck), and Rodney Howard (April); stepchildren, Coy Shelby, Melinda Ray (Rick), Julie Shelby-Davis (Chad), and Doug Shelby (Randee); grandchildren, Anna (Daven), Melissa (Danny), River (Madison), Aaron (Courtney), Bradley (Brittany), Chris (Beverly), Lisa (Marc), Amy, Elizabeth (Clay), Ashley (Tyler), Katie, Clyde, Oliver, Keresa, and Chase Walker; great-grandchildren, Alli, Brooks, Laken, Posey Margaret, Logan, Nolan, Scarlet, Addy, Rowan and Mathias; sister-in-law Pam Ratchford (David); along with her nieces, nephews, and other special family members.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11AM, on April 20, 2024, at New Covenant Church, with The Reverend Charles M Cook and Dr. Stuart L Noell officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10AM – 10:45AM, prior to the service.
A Graveside Committal will be held later in the afternoon at 3PM on April 20, 2024, at the Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.
