Mary Ann Sliwinski, 62, was born March 24th, 1963 in Elyria, Ohio to Anna and Jack Clarke. On
Saturday, August 2nd, 2025 Mary passed away at home in Avon Lake, a place filled with 20
years of love and memories.
Her family celebrating her life are her two children, Hanna (30) and Alaina (28) Sliwinski, and
her sister and best friend, Jacqueline (Roderick) Cross.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Karl Sliwinski (the family is sure she
hasn't stopped holding his hand since being reunited), her loving parents Anna and Jack Clarke,
and her brother Arthur Clarke.
Mary's daughters are so grateful to have been raised by a woman who taught them how to be
unapologetically kind and themselves. To know her is to love her. She had a vibrant spirit
matched with a playful sense of humor. She never knew a stranger and had the most generous
heart.
She dedicated the majority of her professional life to supporting adults with special needs as a
social worker and passionate advocate. She also worked at UPS, where she met her wonderful
husband and made lifelong friends.
Her love for music ran deep (looking at you, Michael Stanley). As a music enthusiast, she loved
to attend live concerts in many different venues. She was also just as happy to be driving by the
lake watching the sunset with the people she loved, blasting her favorite songs. As a creative
personality she had a natural eye for photography and art. She also had a soft spot for every
animal she met. Everyone she loved has a story about her rescuing an animal of some sort.
The family will be holding a private gathering to celebrate her life, as per her wishes. The family
would also like to sincerely thank Misencik-Greaney Funeral Home for all their help during this
difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her memory to The Special Olympics, a program
Mary Ann had volunteered for and was so passionate about.

When I heard I thought of the last part of an old Cashman & west song "American City Suite" Please google the lyrics. Although it's about New York City, I can't describe my feeling for Mary Ann any better than that part of the song. It's the part that starts with "I think of her, I think of life's own music" & it goes to the end of the song. I will miss the rides together on the lake shore, as mentioned in her back round. She was so welcoming to anyone or animal, I have to admit, It scared me sometimes. She will always have a part of my heart. I will miss her!
