Mrs. Mary "Red" Dunn Smith, 79, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Pine View Health and Rehabilitation in Waynesboro, MS. She was born in Waynesboro, MS on Sunday, July 14, 1946, to George W. and Margaret H. Ferguson. She was a member of Zion Rest Baptist Church. She retired from both Wells Lamont and Jordan's Fish Camp.
Mrs. Mary "Red" is preceded in death by her husband, John Roland Dunn; parents, George W. and Margaret H. Ferguson; three brothers, Gerald Ferguson, Cassell Ferguson, and Dexter Ferguson; sister, Margaret "Snookie" Ferguson. She is survived by two daughters, Darlene Gibson (Randy) of Gilbertown, AL and Charlotte Dunn (Tony) of Waynesboro, MS; brother, Rex Ferguson (Clydell) of Clara, MS; four sisters, Sadie Ross of Loxley, AL, Gertrude Odom, Lutrica Jordan, and Thelma Ann Garris (Darrell) all of State Line, MS; six grandchildren, Brittany Sullivan (Derrick), Erica Snow (Joel), Joshua Gibson (Mady), Garrett Gibson (Erin), J. D. Hall (Brandilyn), and Heather Campbell (Josh); 16 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mrs. Mary "Red" will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Eret Baptist Church in State Line, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Eret Baptist Church in State Line, MS with Rev. Mark Ferguson officiating. Interment will be in Eret Baptist Cemetery in Wayne County, MS.
