Mary Ann Smith, 69, of Fortson, GA, passed away Saturday morning in a Columbus, GA hospital.
Mrs. Smith was born October 9, 1956 in Canton, Georgia daughter of the late Ernest Pruitt and Nellie Hillhouse Pruitt. She was a loving, caring person who enjoyed taking care of other people. She loved to sew and embroider; loved to read and work puzzle books. She was an Elvis fan, loved cruising on ships and traveling all over the land and sea. She was a soap opera fan, especially Days of Our Lives. She was always involved with the talk shows and enjoyed cooking and watching cooking shows. She also loved animals.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Nellie Pruitt; sisters, Grace Bates and Aline Fuller; brothers, John Henry Pruitt and Luther Pruitt.
Surviving is her husband, Robert Hillhouse; daughter, Jamie Manous; step daughter, Traci Edwards (James); grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Ray, Cheyenne McIntyre-Uhles (Dalton), Blake Edwards; sisters, Tini Underwood (Johnny), Susie Allen (Richard), Teresa King (Audie); brothers, Pat Pruitt, Jimmy Pruitt (Johnny); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Sosebee Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Jones officiating. Interment will follow in McHelen Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
