Mary Alma Spencer

Mary Alma Spencer, born October 4, 1937, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024, at the age of 87. She is survived by her loving children Cheryl (Doug), Kimberly (Tim), Gary, Tom (Liz), Brian (Tracy), Sharon (Rob) as well as her cherished grandchildren Bradford (Irina), Luke (Stephanie), Jacelyn (Dakota), Jessica (Jeff), Kyle, Bradley (Justine), Melissa, Brian (Anne), Lindsay (Chad), Neil (Kalyn), and her adored great-grandchildren Colton, Ryder, Jett, Austin, Violet, Preston, RuthAnn, Cecilia, Archie, Alaina, Emily, Aria, and Zoey. Mary was predeceased by her husbands Gerald Hughes and Edgar Spencer, along with her first child, Baby Jerry.
Mary was a woman of remarkable strength and dedication. Throughout her life, she provided compassionate support to many as a volunteer at Brighton Hospital, helping countless individuals through their recovery journeys. A successful entrepreneur, Mary owned and operated a cleaning business for many years. She was also a valued and beloved employee at Champion Gasket, where she worked with dedication and integrity, continuing her work ethic well into her 80s, still employed at age 82.
Mary's vibrant spirit touched many, especially her friends and neighbors at Eagle Pond Crossing Apartments, where she lived for the past five years. Known for her quick wit, humor, and compassionate nature, Mary was a wonderful listener who always made time for others. She enjoyed following current events and discussing politics and culture, engaging with friends and family in lively, thoughtful conversations.
Mary will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, wisdom, and radiant personality will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many people she touched throughout her life.
The family will host a visitation on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Frazer Cremations and Funerals, 21001 Pontiac Trail, South Lyon, MI 48178.
