STEFANAC, Mary Gene - Age 90, of Fenton, passed away Monday, August 11, 2025. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, August 16, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Fenton (The service will be live streamed and can be viewed via Mary's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Fr. Robert Copeland celebrant. Visitation will be held at the church Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Angel's Place, 29299 Franklin Road, Southfield, MI 48034.
Mary was born July 22, 1935 in Wyandotte, the daughter of Eugene and Catherine (Byrnes) Hayes. She was a 1953 graduate of Mercy High School in Detroit; and received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Detroit. She married Richard Francis Stefanac February 23, 1963 and he preceded her in death September 8, 2002. She had resided in Fenton for the past 10 years coming from Dearborn. Mary was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Fenton and a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dearborn. She enjoyed playing golf and tennis.
Surviving are: her son, Thomas (Nicole) Stefanac of Fenton; granddaughters, Sophie and Norah Stefanac both of Fenton; brothers, James (Paula) Hayes of Ann Arbor and Thomas Hayes of Canton; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Catherine Hayes; daughter, Mary Catherine Stefanac; and sister, Kathleen Hayes. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
