Mary Ann Steffens, 96, of Cole Camp formerly of Ionia, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Good Samaritan Care Center in Cole Camp. She was born on May 12, 1929, three miles west of Ionia near Windsor, Missouri, a daughter of Paul Christopher and Olga Fredia (Schleier) Rambow. She was baptized at home on June 3, 1929. Her baptismal sponsors were Leona Schleier and Wilhelmine Rambow. Mary Ann was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church at Lincoln and was confirmed there on March 29, 1942. She graduated 8th grade from Zion Lutheran School and in 1946, graduated from Lincoln High School, where she played volleyball On April 13, 1952, at Zion Lutheran Church at Lincoln, she was united in marriage to Harold Arndt Steffens. The couple made their home in Ionia. On April 13, 2022, the couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary at Ambrose in Cole Camp with their family and friends. Mary Ann worked at Producer's Grocery and in 1955, started working for the United States Post Office in Ionia. She retired on October 1, 1992. Mary Ann was a member of the Morlor Extension Club and enjoyed traveling with her husband Harold on trips to Spain, Morocco, Hawaii, Acapulco, and Montego Bay. She loved her flowers and every year she filled her flower beds and brightened up main street in her small town. Mary Ann was always looking for ways to help people like quilting blankets for cancer patients. She is survived by her brother, Ralph Rambow of Cole Camp; nieces, Debra (Mark) Gotzon of North Kansas City, Tanja (Flint) Walton of Sedalia, Marlene Ehlers of Lee's Summit, Elaine (Caryl) Froeschle of Lee's Summit, Janet (Anthony) Torres of Lubbock, Texas, and Rebecca (Craig) Otto of Lee's Summit; nephews, Melvin (Karen) Steffens of Overland Park, Kansas, and James (Linda) Steffens of Lee's Summit;
sixteen great-nieces and nephews; fourteen great-great-nieces and nephews; and a good friend, Carrie Meyer of Lincoln. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Olga Rambow, her loving husband, Harold Steffens, sister, Arlene Rambow, sister-in-law, Myra Rambow, brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Evelyn Steffens, brother and sister-in-law, Delbert and Mildred Steffens, and nephew, Darrel Ehlers. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church at Lincoln with funeral services to be held at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Stephen Rutherford officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Lincoln. Pallbearers will be Melvin Steffens, Caryl Froeschle, Jim Steffens, Craig Otto, Mark Gotzon, Flint Walton, and Anthony Torres.
