Mary (Horn) Stitt

1936 - 2025

Mary (Horn) Stitt passed away peacefully at home in Raytown, Missouri, on October 3, 2025, at the age of 89. She was born on January 30, 1936, in Princeton, Missouri, to Elford and Alma Horn.

Mary dedicated 13 years as a bus driver, but her greatest joy came from her roles as a wonderful and unforgettable mother and grandmother.

She held very strong Christian values that guided her life. Her unconditional, loving personality endeared her to many. In her final days, even as her body was failing her, her spirit remained strong. She faced her illness with grace and courage, still more concerned about those she loved than herself.

Mary found immense happiness in spending time with her family, creating lasting memories on trips to Florida, Branson, and Roaring River State Park. She especially loved trout fishing, camping, and sightseeing.

As we say goodbye to her, our hearts are heavy with grief, but also overflowing with gratitude. We are forever grateful for her endless love, unwavering support, and gentle guidance. She may not be with us physically, but her love will live on in our hearts forever.

Mary is survived and will be greatly missed by her two daughters, Kathy Stawarz (Bill) and Loretta Martin. She will forever be remembered, loved, and cherished by her grandchildren, Jennifer McGuire, Rusty Stitt, and Teresa McGuire, six great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, brother in law, Larry Zimmerman (Mary), and many very special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Elford; her mother, Alma; her brother, Donald Lee; her sister, Billie Marie; her brother and sister in law, James and Phyllis Zimmerman; her son, Billy (Butch) Jr.; two grandsons, Patrick and Michael; and her one true love, her husband, Billy.

Graveside Services and Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 10 in Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Princeton, MO. There is no scheduled family visitation. Online condolences may be left at www.robersonfuneralhome.com.
