Mary ( "Bobbi") Robert Suggs,1946-2024
Mary ("Bobbi") Robert Suggs, 77 of Chattanooga, TN, passed away in the comfort of her home on surrounded during her final days by family and friends.
Bobbi was born in Oak Park, Illinois on September 25, 1946 to Mabel and Elmer Murphy. She was the youngest of four siblings, brothers Donald Joseph Murphy and Robert Emmit Murphy and her sister Dorthy Murphy-Cerney. Bobbi was named for her brother Robert who died in the battle of Saipan during World War 2.
Her deep and heartfelt faith in God and his promises of everlasting life for those that believed in him, gave her comfort in dealing with loved ones that past before her as well as her own passing. She was preceded in death by her father Elmer Murphy, mother Mabel Murphy-Jones, siblings Don and Robert and Dorothy. Also, by her son Kenneth Ferra.
Bobbi is survived by her husband Jeff Suggs, her children Joseph Ferra, Thomas Atkisson and Carrie Atkisson, her much loved grandson Jackson Dooley as well as her step children Adam Suggs and Jordan Suggs.
Her early education through High School was at Catholic Schools in Oak Park, Illinois and Riverside California. She went on to receive her Bachelor Degree in Nursing through Tennessee Temple and the Erlanger School of Nursing in Chattanooga Tennessee. After a full and rewarding career in Nursing, she retired from Erlanger Hospital.
Nursing was more than a career for Bobbi, it was truly a calling and passion for her. The impact that she had as a nurse went far beyond the care and compassion that she gave to her patients. She was an inspiration for the nurses that she worked with. Mentor was the word that more than one her friends, especially the younger nurses, used to describe what Bobbi meant to them. This was never more evident that during the last part of her journey, as she was surrounded by her friends from Erlanger coming to sit with her, providing her with the comfort and love, like Bobbi had provided to so many. This love and care was extended to her family as well, providing relief and comfort to them.
She will be missed by so many that loved and cared for her, as was shown over the last few months. There were more laughs than tears, more peace than anxiety and more love than remorse, and that is what she wanted. Most importantly, she wanted everyone, especially her children to know that she loves them, through the good and the trying times and she hopes that they know how much she truly love them.
